The Moulin Rouge is certainly the most famous cabaret of the World. The Moulin Rouge is in Pigalle, located on 82 boulevard de Clichy, métro Blanche. Its doors first opened on Sunday, October 6, 1889. The windmill symbol is a holdover from the time of Louis XIV, when the Montmartre section of Paris was home to as many as thirty windmills. The red windmill of the Moulin rouge has been modified and reconstructed several times over the years. The Moulin Rouge was the "rendezvous du high life." It was a theatre , a concert hall, and a dance hall all at the same time. People came from all over to dance, to watch the dancers, and to watch each other watching the dancers. The best known legacy of the Moulin Rogue is the "Can-Can. The cancan is very demanding of its performers, each of whom must have superior qualities of balance, rhythm and stamina, many of the performers whom have failed as a ballerinas carry all these traits. The Moulin Rouge, it’s most glorious days behind it, continues to entertain tourists a century after its debut.
Today, like many years ago, people from all around the world can go to the Moulin Rouge where they’ll be entertained by singers, dancers, comedians, acrobats, and other theatrical performances. The audience can first enjoy dinner while an orchestra plays great music. These dinners range from a cost of 140-270 Euros per person. At nine o'clock dinner is finished and the show begins! 100 dancers are recruited world-wide and trained to give spectacular, synchronized performances. These Moulin Rouge performers wear 1000 costumes of feathers, rhinestones and sequins. If ever in Paris the Moulin Rouge should be on your list of stops for guaranteed fun!
