Frankenstein: How Are the Creature and Frankenstein Similiar

In Mary Shelley’s novel, Frankenstein, both the creature and Victor become more                     alike as the novel progresses. Their bond with nature, desire for family, and desire for vengeance are important characteristics that they share.

Both Victor and the creature desire a family. The creature starts with no family, as Victor rejects him. Victor starts with a whole family, Alfonse, his father, Caroline, his mother, Elizabeth, his adopted sister, and William, his brother but than loses them either from the creature killing them, or natural causes. Victor’s mother, Caroline dies of scarlet fever. Victor’s brother, William dies because the creature strangles him for revenge and Justine is accused because of the picture last seen in William’s possession and is executed. The creature says   "I will be with you on your wedding night" to Victor. The night that Victor gets married to Elizabeth the creature strangles her as well. Shocked by the death of Elizabeth, Victor’s father, Alfonse dies a few days later. The creature’s desire for family is mostly represented when he meets the blind De Lacey. The creature is then driven away by Felix who is horrified by the creatures exterior appearance. Another example of the creature’s desire of companionship is when he asks Victor to create a companion for him. Victor complies, upon the completion of the second creature, Victor realizes that it is unnatural for another human to create life and kills than buries it at sea.

When the creature kills Elizabeth, Victor devotes the rest of his life to the destruction of the creature. Victors desire for vengeance leads him up north where he gets lost at sea. The creature, again starts his desire for vengeance when Victor rejects him.

When ever Victor loses someone close to him he goes to Geneva. When William is killed Victor goes there and arrives after the gates close and spends the night walking outside in the woods. The creature lives outside, away from humans   since...
