16 and Pregnant is a MTV reality television series produced by Morgan J. Freeman, and was first broadcast on June 11, 2009. It follows the stories of pregnant teenage girls in high school dealing with the hardships of teenage pregnancy. Each episode features a different teenage girl, with the episode typically beginning when she is 4 1⁄2–8 months into her pregnancy. The episode typically ends when the baby is a few months old. This is a very good TV show because it reveals the hardships that pregnant teenage girls have to go through.
    The information that this show provides to me is very important. By watching all the things that teenage girls have to go through when they are pregnant, it makes me realizes how important it is to practice safer sex. If all those girls in the show were educated enough or if they were not so spoiled by their parents, they probably would not be pregnant right now. Even though some people believe that 16 and Pregnant promotes bad values, I see it in a different way. For me, it shows what teenage girls and boys can avoid just by practicing safer sex or abstinence. The main idea of this show is to spotlighting the hardships of being a teen mother.
    I believe that this show should be incorporated within this family course because it will inform high school students of how hard it really is to be a teen mother or a teen father. In a lot of cases, when a teenage girl gets pregnant, her boyfriend leaves her, so the only help she has is her parents. I believe that just teaching high school students about the consequences of having unprotected sex is not enough. If they actually get to see how difficult life is for a teen mother/father, this class will not just be a class; it will be a life lesson for the students.
